LYDEC AND THE MAScIR FOUNDATION SIGN A FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT FOR COOPERATION ON SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Lydec and the MAScIR Foundation (Moroccan Foundation for Advanced Science Innovation and Research) concluded, on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, a cooperation framework agreement in the field of research and scientific and technological development.
This framework agreement, which runs for a period of 5 years, establishes the terms and conditions of cooperation between the two institutions, in order to promote research and development, strengthen open innovation, and develop the « Made in Morocco » brand.
Lydec and the MAScIR Foundation will jointly define research and development projects that meet the specific needs of the Casablanca public service delegate. Implemented under specific agreements, these projects will focus on artificial intelligence for remote monitoring in construction sites, connected personal protective equipment (PPE) and commercial fraud detection. This framework agreement also includes other areas, such as smart devices for equipment geolocation, smart grids, as well as new wastewater and stormwater treatment processes.
As part of this framework cooperation agreement, a first project will be launched by Lydec and MAScIR and will consist in conducting a study concerning the automatic detection of solar photovoltaic panels through satellite imagery and artificial intelligence. The purpose is to estimate the total production of electricity by solar photovoltaic panels in the city of Casablanca, through the use of satellite images and / or drones and the implementation of artificial intelligence algorithms.
Through the conclusion of this framework cooperation agreement, Lydec confirms its ongoing commitment to innovation in order to best meet the expectations of its stakeholders and support the development of its anchor territory. For its part, the MAScIR Foundation reaffirms its vocation for science, innovation and research and its willingness to address the current and future needs of national operators.
