CHALLENGE INVEST IN WOMEN – INTERVIEW WITH NAWAL CHRAIBI

Nawal Chraibi
General Director – MAScIR Foundation and Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) at UM6P

After obtaining her degree in Management and Finance from the University Paris Dauphine, where she graduated in 2000, Nawal Chraibi began her career as a Senior Consultant supporting companies within the consolidation department and then as a mission leader for prestigious consulting firms in Paris between 2000 and 2007. During this period, she had the opportunity to work on various consolidation missions in Industry, Banking, and Insurance. In 2007, she decided to return to Morocco to join Alcatel Lucent’s subsidiary in Rabat as Deputy CFO and Project Financial Controller, before joining the MAScIR Foundation as Support Director in charge of financial and administrative management, human resources, and information systems in December 2009.

Since December 2018, she has been the General Manager of MAScIR. Today, after 17 years of existence, the R&D projects within MAScIR have given birth to several startups (including MOLDIAG specializing in molecular diagnostics, which produces and markets, among other things, the PCR Covid 19 kit).

Since October 2022, she has also been leading the IAS-UM6P, the Institute for Advanced Studies, a transdisciplinary center of excellence at UM6P, which hosts scientists, academics, and artists of international standing for residencies. The IAS aims to create synergies between residents and the scientific community of UM6P and to stimulate scientific exchanges within the University. Its medium-term ambition is to label the IAS-UM6P as a UBIAS (University Based IAS), which will be the first in the Arab world, a Flagship of the University, allowing to increase the global cultural and scientific influence of the university and improve the global ranking of UM6P.

Nawal Chraibi is naturally and logically interested in R&D and innovation, having evolved in this environment for 15 years, within an ecosystem, that of UM6P, dedicated to this strategic dimension for a country. She is convinced that “R&D is a driver of competitiveness and longevity for companies, but also for the sustainable development of States. Morocco is fully aware of this reality, as evidenced by the UM6P project led by the OCP Group.”

She emphasizes “her luck” to have had the opportunity to evolve in the field of R&D, a field that has enriched her, strengthened her passion for what she does, with all the challenges and constraints that this implies. For her, “passion transcends the notion of work, to become a source of happiness, emulation, and satisfaction.”
